Becoming a good learner

Hello, dear reader. If you are a student, or the guardian of a student, you might face the problem in studies. You can’t concentrate, but you want to concentrate and start focusing on your studies. But your time-table is so irregular that you are not able to get time for studies or when you get time, you tend to get lazy more often than not. You don’t give time for proper studies. If that is the problem that you are facing, all that you need is some consistency towards learning. Your consistency will discipline you, and this discipline will make your studies exciting and also this discipline will make you strictly follow your routine in studies even if you don’t want to. 

Mostly, this discipline is instructed by parents and guardians of students. Your parents scold you not because that they don’t love you, but they want to instruct you in developing this discipline in you. A young child has a new and unique mind-set, but, because it has no experience, it needs some guidance in developing this skill to master the art of learning. Being a parent, your guidance will help your child to make himself/herself consistent. So, being a responsible parent is a must when it comes to learning to master any skill. Your guidance plays a big role in developing the learning skill of your child.

When we are young, we go to school. And the next most important part of a student’s life is the teacher of the school. In fact, a school-going student spends more time in school than he spends at home. So, it is very important for the teacher to make the student realize the importance of consistency and discipline towards learning. If the teacher does not take this responsibility, it is a very high chance that the child’s intellectual and academic development can become slow. Hence, a good teacher is very important for the proper development of the student intellectually. Parent and teacher co-ordination can help the student’s progress to speed up and to produce a good citizen for the future.

Now that we have talked about what the parents and the teachers can do, let’s get to the most important part of today’s discussion—the student. No matter if the parents of the student spends millions and also give a lot of personal attention to the child, no matter if the teachers try their best in the explanation; if the child does not want to learn, then all of those millions of efforts are just going into trash. Though it is important for the parents and teachers to make the child understand the importance of learning, if the child does not try to understand, then nothing can be done in this scenario. It is like you are making a dam but the water in the river on which you are trying to make this dam, has just disappeared. 

So, as a student, my recommendation is not only you listen and follow the instructions of your elders, but try to make your discipline towards learning to master that skill even stronger. And once you develop this discipline, this discipline will automatically trigger your mind to make you study, and you will be able to do even more than you thought you could do. Your understanding is the most important. If you don’t want or try to understand the importance of these skills, then all of the time and money that you, your parents and your teachers are spending would be counted as zero and none of the countless efforts of your elders will be recognized. 

If you rule over yourself, you will be considered helpful for your family, your society and your country. The easiest person to fool is we ourselves and is the hardest person to discipline is also we ourselves. Effectively, ruling ourselves is called discipline. Your elders try to discipline you, and that’s all they can do. They can’t do anything in the case if you want to remain indisciplined. So, discipline is the most important part of someone’s life. The whole life of a person either spends as a student, or a teacher. A teacher also includes all professionals since all professionals are executing what they learnt as a student. And hence, being a disciplinarian is very important for progress.

So these are the points that you, your elders, and your teachers can do for your intellectual development. Always remember, discipline towards one’s ambition is the main reason for his/her success. It is the ultimate rule. You can only learn when you have a great experience, and to have a great experience you need a good experience, and a good experience comes from a bad experience, which comes through failures and struggle, which builds up discipline and this discipline develops determination which makes you practice and struggle so that you can finally learn something.
