The Importance of having a plan
In today’s world, people have become very unpredictable. People are trying out all sorts of things to stand out from the crowd and look unique from everyone else. Their focus has been diverted into many things, and as a result, they are not able to concentrate on one particular thing that they are best at.
There are indeed situations where things don’t go as planned. Sometimes we are averted from the plan because of an emergency, or sometimes we just don’t feel like doing it. But, even after this, it is extremely important to have a plan.
Let’s first understand what planning is. Planning is something that you do to set and achieve small goals, which lead to the achievement of a bigger and more significant goal. You simply can’t do everything at once, or all of something at once. For example, you can’t finish your entire syllabus for the whole year in just one day. That’s physically impossible as our mind needs time to incorporate the new concepts that we need to learn for the whole year. That’s the whole point of having a session of one year, otherwise, why wouldn’t people just go to school for one day, right?
Also, you can’t complete your syllabus even in one whole year if you don’t give adequate time and focus to each of the subjects you need to focus on. In such cases, we realise the importance of planning. So, planning is setting small achievable goals and achieving them as time passes. By small goals, I don’t mean to say that we set our goals to be so small that even after a very long time, we are not able to reach them anywhere. Some people set their goals to be so small that they are not able to start and reach the verge of completion in the due time.
And the complicated thing is that only you know how you must set your goals, and manage your time because only you are aware of your true capability. For example, some students are good at a few subjects, and not so good at a few others. In that case, the student must learn to effectively manage his/her time so that he can give a little more time to learn the subject he/she is not good at.
Planning helps you to predict your achievements, and understand by when you will be able to accomplish which goal. True, there might be some emergencies or some other circumstances, which may cause delay in your plan, but that shouldn’t be affecting you and your productive use of your time as you can always make up for that lost time later.
People today struggle with time management. And, with distractions like social media, people are not able to manage their time effectively and use the hours of their day properly. They get very less or even no time to do something productive because of the use of social media and other distractions. People must learn to avert themselves from these distractions, or plan their day to know when to use social media and when not to.
Planning is not easy, I admit. But, it is the only option we are left with in this busy world. So, if we want to get to a better position in the future than where we are now, we must use our time effectively to reach there. The hard part is, we can’t increase the time we have, but the activities we have, have increased rapidly or even exponentially. In such a case, planning becomes extremely important otherwise we wouldn’t be able to use our time effectively and focus on everything that we need to focus on. We need to have a plan to recover what’s lost, be it through effort, or hard work. So, let’s try our best to work according to our plan; work hard and be determined throughout the process.
