Why is asking questions more important than finding answers?
A question is something that
stimulates curiosity in our minds so that we can go on a quest to find an
answer to them. There are many people that still think that asking questions is
an activity that an immature and unknowledgeable people do—they don’t
understand that in today’s world questions are more valued than answers.
Questions come from the word
“quest” which means a fascinating urge to discover something. A question is
something that makes you inquisitive or curious for something. So a question
makes your brain become more curious and find out more and more things about
the world. So, there are five words that mostly come in a question—what, how,
who, where and when. It is these questions that make someone make a
hypothesis/theory/supposition, experiment it and then finally come up with the
result. So, to enhance interest, we need questions.
In today’s world, answers are not a
big deal as we are always just a few clicks away from the internet—the biggest
source of information of humanity. Using the internet, we can get an answer to
any question that was ever asked in the entire history of mankind just in a
fraction of seconds. So, an answer is not hard to get, but a question is. We
humans are curious about the world. We want to know more and more about the
universe and how it functions. So, whenever we see something that has never
been seen before, we start asking questions about it. Because we are curious,
these questions are what force us to find the answer. Without these questions, we won’t be able to
understand about anything. This answer increases our knowledge and this
knowledge makes us come up with new innovative ideas and also even more
questions about how. Effectively, first we ask the question “what?”, then “why?”,
then “where?”, then “when?”, then “who?”
and then finally “how?” So, whenever you are struck at something that you don’t
know about, ask these five questions about it and then you will find the
answer. So, the questions are the main part of our lives and our curiosity in
finding out the answer to these questions has prepared us get to the answers. So,
we must try to ask more and more questions to become more and more
knowledgeable rather than running away from questions or forbidding questions.
Finding out answers to questions is
an easy task, if you have already encountered with the answer. For example, if
someone asks you why does the sun only rise in the east? Then your answer would
obviously be because the Earth rotates on its axis from West to East, the sun
rises from the east. This was a question that has already been solved, but what
if you get a question that has not already been solved in the future. Today, in
the times of the internet, questions are rarer than answers because most of the
questions that are asked by an average person have already been answered. And, coming
up with new questions is as hard as finding gold in a goldmine from which most
of the gold has been extracted already. Still, scientists ask questions so that
they can find the answers to them so that we can increase our knowledge about
the universe. Any question that we ask is ultimately about the universe. Be it
a question from math, or from science, or from any other subject because
everything is a part of the universe. So, in order to increase our knowledge
about the universe, and come up with new and innovative ideas for the benefit
of mankind and our world, we need to understand how the universe works.
We should encourage people to ask more and more questions so that we can dive even deeper and deeper in expanding the knowledge about the world. Today, the world has no scarcity of answerers, and so don’t fear to ask questions to anyone. There are only two possibilities, either the person you asked the question will know the answer to it or will not know the answer to the question. And if he/she does not know the answer to the question, you can ask other people, if they don’t know the answer try to find out yourself. Question everything, be it in your textbook, or your playground, or your home. Asking questions will make you find more and more answers to the questions that will lead you to increase your knowledge and become a better human being. Asking questions is never a crime. So, never fear asking questions or forbid others to ask questions; instead, encourage yourself and others to ask more and more questions.
