The Importance of Time

What is time? Well, this question is one of those questions that are unanswered till date. Time is something that we all are aware of, but we are not able to define it no matter how hard we try. Time is so vast that its origin point and its end point has no fixed answer.

We are always reminded by our elders, "Don't waste your time. Use your time wisely." Why do they say that? They say this to us because they want us to understand to respect and move along with time and don't be late.

Time, is something that hasn't been defined yet. But we understand what time is and how does it function. The one characteristic of time is that it doesn't stop. It doesn't wait for anyone nor it will wait for anyone. Anybody and everybody will have to respect time; if someone doesn't, then his problems can increase exponentially.

Just like money dues, time dues also exist. If you keep on borrowing money, then the more and more money you will have to pay in return to the moneylender. Similarly, if you keep on postponing your works that you are supposed to do, then you will have to work more and more. Sometimes, the works are so big that they can also increase exponentially.

So time management is a very vital skill that we need to learn. If you take a look at successful people from all around the globe, be it a businessman, an officer, or an Internet Personality, everybody shows time management skills in them. Time management is a part of discipline that helps you use your 24 hours of your day wisely and helps you not waste a single second out of it.

Time is something that can't be brought back. If something bad has happened in the past, then the best we can do is try to prevent it. But we can't change what happened that time in the past, can we? This makes time more valuable than anything else. If someone is ready to give his time for you, then that is the highest honour that the person can give you because he is ready to spend his time with you which can't be compensated back. This is the reason we say, "Thank you for your time."

If we have lost money, then we can earn it back. But if we have lost time, then we can't bring it back. Money is possible only if we have time. If you have time, it is only then you will be able to use that time to generate money. But you don't have time, but you have a lot of money, then that money is only going to drain, slowly or quickly.

Time management is a very vital skill that we students need to learn because time management for a student is a very important thing. Students don't know how to guide themselves on the way, and so they end up wasting time in unproductive things. Students today instead of studying, go and hang out with friends, and stay stuck to social media. Unless the student is doing some productive work together with his friends on social media that student can't be considered productive for the nation because when he grows up his mindset will remain like this and his country wouldn't get support and contribution that he is supposed to give.

How can we manage our time? Many of us have this question. Some say that they are very tired after their long day of work, and so they don't have any time, which is understandable. If someone has got a long day at work and that person is not getting any free time, then it is very understandable because that person not only needs to work but also needs to rest. But, there are some intelligent people who are always busy, but manage their time in such a way that when they need time they can comfortably use their time as they wish.

When someone has a hectic schedule, be it a student, a teacher or a professional, it is only because that person hasn't understood how to use his time efficiently. Also, there is a second reason. Those people want to save money and in turn waste their time. But this waste of time creates a problem afterwards, i.e., that person has to waste even more time and the money that he tries to save gets spent anyways.

Let me give you an example. If you went to buy a grocery store to buy a 1 litre pouch of mustard oil, and you get to choose one of two of them, one is of worth 150 rupees and the other is of worth 180 rupees. The 150-rupee one is manufactured by one of the local companies, but the 180-rupee one is of a good and trusted company. Which one would you choose? Well, most people would choose the 150-rupee one and then bear the results later. The 150-rupee pouch may not have followed the good manufacturing practices, and so it is impure and harmful for the people who consume it.  The result! One of your family members falls ill because of consuming that oil. Now, the doctor demands 3000 rupees on his treatment.

As you can see from this example, in an attempt to save 30 rupees, you lose 3000 on the treatment. Sometimes it can be so severe it can even be 30,000 or even 300,000 rupees for the treatment. So your time got wasted, your money got wasted, and your family member's health became fragile in the end. How can this be called a good bargain when you save 30 rupees and lose 3000 or more?

This is what happens when you try to save only money but not your time. But you should think to save both your time and your money. When you do both of these, then you will be able to think how can you balance out so that you are not harmed in any manner. This doesn't mean that you spend your money as you wish, but it means that use your brain on where to spend and where to save.

Like we discussed earlier, our time dues can increase exponentially, there is also something that can make our time dues decrease exponentially.  The notion of hard work! Two kinds of people exist, some who work hard and some who work hardly. Those who work hardly suffer and those who work hard reap the benefits of their hard work.

For example, let's take ourselves, the students. Those students who have worked hard studying and preparing for the whole year, don't have to struggle when it comes to exams. But those students who hardly joined the classes have to struggle to prepare for the exams.

So this is the method that we can use to prepare ourselves to face the exponential increase of work by working hard exponentially first. If you work first, then your chances of success are higher and even if you fail then you won't face many issues and you can restart again. But if you work last then your time will become your burden and you won't be able to complete your work on time and you will get lesser opportunities and you wouldn't be able to restart again.
