Online vs Offline classes

Today, The Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, was giving a speech on our new education policy. Our Prime Minister also discussed about the online and offline classes. He said, that the reason students couldn’t reach their full potential in online classes is not because of the education in the online medium, but because of their own mind. Their own mind and their own laziness prevented them from reaching their true potential. His speech included vast array of topics, and he taught us a lot of things in the small amount of time we spent listening to him today. Let’s discuss about this topic in detail and understand why does our honourable Prime Minister’s wisdom infers this about the students of the present.

In the COVID-19 pandemic, we witnessed and did online classes, something many people of the previous generation(s) hadn’t imagined before. Though some scientific fiction writers like Isaac Asimov had visualised, imagined and wrote about online classes. We can even see the same in the “The Fun They Had”, which is the first chapter of the English literature book of class 9th prescribed by NCERT.

Online classes have many advantages. We have a clean, smooth environment. It is available no matter how the weather outside is. You don’t have to worry about the teacher to come to school, or you don’t have to worry about how will you study and go to school when you are sick, it is all available in your screen in front of you. Moreover, you have the internet to explore and learn new and new things. Today, if someone says that they are not able to study because of lack of resources, then most probably they are just lying and perhaps don’t want to study. Because everyone uses internet these days, and in the presence of the Internet, millions of resources on various platforms are available entirely for free. This is because today’s world wants hardworking, enlightened, and knowledgeable people. People who can make change in the world. So, many teachers provide excellent resources to each students absolutely without any costs.

Offline classes have their own advantages. We can have social interactions, make friends, play with them, study with them, and learn new things from our teachers in a traditional social-school environment. We learn how to talk with people, how to behave, and all the necessary perks required to be called social in a world like ours, with such a massive population, and a massive number to meet in the later years of life.

It doesn’t matter whichever medium of classes you choose, you are going to be taught the same things. The same subjects that you are taught at Offline School will be taught to you in the Online School. The problem doesn’t lie in the medium of the education, the problem lies in the willingness of yours to learn. You see, as I have already said in many of my articles, that no matter you get the best education facilities in the world, if you don’t will to learn, then they all are just going to go to waste. On the other hand, if you work hard, then even if you have the minimalist amount of resources, your hard work is going to make you reach the top.

Our Prime Minister said the same thing. “The problem is not in the medium, it is in the mind.” If a student wants to study, then no matter whatever the situation or the medium is, he will study and become knowledgeable. On the contrary, the same thing is true for a student who doesn’t want to study. No matter his/her parents hire for him/her ten tutors everyday, if that student doesn’t want to learn, then nothing can make him learn.

So, don’t make your money make you study, because you are anyway going to learn nothing with this idea. Instead, train yourself and your brain to make your mind discipline you to study, because the problem lies in the mind, not in the medium of education that you choose. Online is no better than offline and offline is no better than online, it relies on you how you utilize your resources that your school and your parents provide you and learn and become the best student that you can become.
