My Act of Charity

I am Shreyash Siddharth of class 9, studying in Don Bosco School Purnea. Today, on the 12th of September 2022, I am delighted to share my act of charity.

Humanity’s signature is generosity. A person’s generosity signifies his humanity. Today, we decided to go one step forward to preach and follow humanity. I and my friends, Amit Kumar Das, and Shivam Sinha, of class 9B decided that we would help some people in need. We planned our venture accordingly.

We went to a temple, where we saw a group of nine labourers, who had been working very hard since the morning. They were incredibly tired and hungry too. Sadly, the nearest place they could get their food was their home, to which they had to cycle because it was tens of kilometres away. We decided to help and comfort them.

We bought some food and essential items they needed after their tiring day of work. We gifted them some of our old clothes, which they were delighted to have since they were poor and couldn’t afford much. They were really happy after we gifted them with so many things.

How do I feel?

First of all, I thank god for making me able to help someone in need. Also, I thank my parents who understood me and gave me a chance to express my generosity towards others. I feel blessed to be born a human capable of being able to help someone in need. I feel delighted that whatever I could give for helping someone in need, and to bring that beautiful smile to their face. I am very happy that someone would tell their family at home that a generous person came to them and brought a smile to their face.

I am not saying that I gave them everything they needed, but everything that I could give them. And I feel very happy to have done this action. I am glad that I was the reason for someone’s smile. The reason I am admiring their smile so much is that a smile is priceless. No one can ever buy happiness, it is only by our actions that we bring a smile to someone’s face. And the smile reflects their happiness. I am glad that I was able to be their happiness, if not forever, then just for a few moments. 

I think that if every person is able donates something they can donate to someone in need, the world will be a better place. I think that incorporating this humane act of generosity is of utmost importance, not for the whole society, but our inner peace. We feel incredible after helping someone in need.

I suggest everyone in this world who can do whatever they can to help someone who needs it. Some people don’t ask for help, but as humans and members of society, we must help others. A simple act like this can have a huge impact on the lives of others and will regain their faith in humanity. It was an amazing experience and an amazing venture doing this kind of generous act and we will try our best to continue such acts in the future to help more and more people in need.
